Maintain Your Pet’s Oral Health

At West Orange Veterinary Hospital, we understand the importance of dental care in ensuring your pet’s overall health and well-being. Just like humans, pets can suffer from dental problems that can lead to pain, infection, and other serious health issues.

Our comprehensive dental care services are designed to keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy and to prevent dental problems before they arise.

The Importance of Dental Health

Dental health is a critical component of your pet’s overall health.  Over time, plaque and tartar buildup lead to gingivitis, dental pain, and even tooth loss.

Comprehensive Dental Services

Our dental care services encompass everything from routine cleanings and exams to advanced dental procedures.

During a dental cleaning, our experienced veterinary team will remove plaque and tartar buildup from your pet’s teeth, both above and below the gumline.

We perform full mouth x-rays during every dental procedure to help identify hidden problems and probe the teeth and gums to assess stability, inflammation, enamel defects, or any other concerns.

If severely diseased or fractured teeth are identified our veterinarians are skilled in surgical dental extractions and other advanced procedures to restore dental health and alleviate pain and discomfort. When necessary we can apply oral sealants and gingival antibiotics to prevent and combat disease.

Preventive Dental Care

Prevention is key when it comes to dental health. In addition to regular cleanings and exams, we offer preventive dental care options to help keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy between visits.

This include at-home dental care products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental chews, and specialized diets designed to promote dental health.

We recommend Veterinary Oral Health Council-approved dental care products, a list of which can be found at vohc.org.
